Where to eat in Nerja

Eating good food in Nerja is not a problem. There is a vast selection all ends of Nerja, catering for all tastes. Again here are a few of my selections, which is not by any means very comprehensive.

As suspected, the centre of town offers the best choice. Little Italy in Calle Carabeo, is a great family pizza restaurant. Two meals with drinks costs under 10 Euros. That is a real bargain in this day and age. There is always a queue outside. However a tip is to book the table early in the day to beat the queues.  A second Little Italy is located under the Supersol supermarket, close to Calle Antonio. However I have been to better restaurants. A third Little Italy restaurant is located at the bottom of Calle Pintada, close to the Balcon. However this is constantly being updated, so stick with the Calle Carabeo option for now.

Antica Roma

Almost opposite the Little Italy, is a lovely restaurant that has a fantastic balcony overlooking the sea, called Antica Roma. Because of it's location, it is a little more costly than normal, but not too expensive. Well worth a visit.

If you want quality, and nice surroundings then consider Bakus, at the end of Calle Carabeo, the Burriana beach end. A great place for fish and meat, relatively expensive, but great for a anniversary.

Marbella restaurant at the back of the Balcon Church has a terrace at the back with stunning views. Lunch can be taken for around 15 euros each on the terrace whilst taking in all that the Mediterranean has to offer. Be aware that the service can be a tadge chaotic and lunch is generally a better time to go.

Olas Bar, Burriana Beach. A favourite of mine as you get what’s written on the tin! Not really for an anniversary meal, more simply, good cooked food, with great service.

Olas

Yuu Taley is a Thai restaurant situated on Burriana beach just along from Olas bar. In fact it is the last building in the row of shops. The food is fantastic. I have been there a number of times. The green curry is excellent. It is not a cheap night out, but worth it. It is worth noting that their other restaurant is Lan Sang,  http://www.lansang.com/home situated in Calle Malaga, in the centre of Nerja. Another great choice.

Slightly off the wall, and it sounds a bit weird, but if you find yourself over the ‘Lidl’ supermarket side of town, ie the road that leads up to the A7 motorway, junction 292, consider the Red  ‘Cepsa’ petrol station, which doubles up as motorway services. There is a 24 Hour restaurant and bar attached to the petrol station. Swordfish, chips and salad, washed down with a glass of vino, or beer will cost around 12 Euros. Service is quick, staff helpful, and there is a veranda out the back that overlooks the mountains.

Oasis of Marrakesh

Oasis of Marrakesh. A fantastic Moroccan restaurant is tucked in the side at the RIU Monica Hotel. Located in Calle Merida. I went there with a group of friends so was lucky to have a wide choice. Including Prawns in Cous Cous, avocado salads, lamb in potato, and chicken. The only down side for me was that I couldn't get a pint of beer, and had to drink double the amount out of a bottle. An excellent family run restaurant

Maria Bonita

Maria Bonita, is one of several restaurants on Plaza Fabrica de los Cangrejos, which is an extension of Calle Malaga. The thing I like about this place is the simplicity, but amount of food served. Fish, steak and chicken are cooked to order, with the option of sitting inside or out the front. A busy area with street musicians.

Amazonas Brazilian BBQ

Brazilian BBQ. Located just up the parade from the Maria Bonita, this is advertised as an all you can eat, for about 12 Euros. If you are a veggie, vegan, or tree hugger, then don't bother. If you want the meat 'well done' or 'Hecho bien' (As they say out here), then again, don't bother. Salad and bread is dished up first, in order for you to be full and not eat too much meat. Just keep asking, and they will keep serving. A great night out.

  1. I have eaten and drunk here. It's great. It is also good for those occasions when you run out of milk as the shop attached to the garage is always open.
