Tapas Trail Route 1.
Ruta De La Tapa Nerja
Ruta De La Tapa Nerja
Meet in the main Balcon Square, at the front of the church.
Looking at the church with the sea to your left, walk to the
left of the church, the entire length of the church. At the other end of the
church you reach Plaza de Cavana.
Approx. 100 Metres after the rear of the church there is a bar on the
left called Candela. It is a small entrance within a grey doorway. The name is
above the door. Entry is down a narrow corridor, with the bar at the end. I can
recommend any of the rice dishes, or the Tuna with Tomato. A good level of
English is spoken here. At the very end of the bar is an enclosed courtyard, a
nice place to sit.
Candela
Candela Nerja |
Leaving the Candela, turn left. The road bears around to the
left. You are now in Calle El Barrio. Follow this road. Point of reference
after 200 metres is a Mexican restaurant to the right (People tell me this
restaurant is not recommended!). Keep walking and after another 200 metres you
come to a road. Traffic coming from your right going down hill. Turn left here.
This is Calle Castilla Perez. About 100 metres down the hill is a bar called
Tapearte. This is a huge 2 floored bar. The tapas change weekly and there is a
menu in English and Spanish. I love the small burgers or chicken kebabs.
Tapearte Nerja |
When leaving Bar Tapearte, cross the road and take the small
road directly opposite, to the right of the Bosque bar. Calle Fray Junipero
Serra. You will pass ‘Maxwells’ bar to your right. This road bears to the
right. After you bear to the right continue for approx. 200 metres and you will see Bar La Bodeguilla in
front of you. This has barrels outside. In the summer the shutters are open.
Excellent red wine and flaming sausages. A complimentary bowl of olives are
usually presented as well.
La Bodeguilla Nerja |
As you leave La Bodeguilla, turn right and you
are now in Calle El Chaparil. Immediately opposite is Bar La Rienda. This is a favourite of mine. Great tapas, just make sure you dont sit at a table outside, barrels are allowed.
La Rienda
La Rienda Nerja |
Leaving Bar La Rienda, turn right and head down the hill. After
approx. 50 metres on the left is my favourite on this tour, Sevillanos. There
are 3 in town so ensure you get the right one! Big glasses of wine, huge
selection of tapas, fantastic staff.
Sevillanos Nerja |
If you can still stand up, look across the road to Calle
Almirante Carranza. On the right about 50 Metres from the junction is La
Taberna De Pepe Moles. Excellent tapas, one of the more expensive bars, but
still under 2.50 Euros.
La Taberna Pepe Moles Nerja |
Again a wonderful selection of my favouriteTapas Bars, but Taberna Torero is a new one to me, although I have passed it many times I have never ventured in, but I will give it a try now.
ReplyDeleteCan I also recommend just before Torero is Vinoletto which is a lovely little Tapas Bar especially in the Winter. A great Tapas Route- thank you. Tapas Lil
Route updated as Taberna Torero has closed.
