Late night out with Music

Late night out with Music, Nerja.

Nerja, has some great places for a bit of late live music.

Even more for daytime, weekend live music. This will be discussed elsewhere in this blog.

To be fair it does go a bit in fits and starts here. Either the police come around and shut things down or the Mayor decides they don't like the noise, and things close. Nerja is a working town, and I suppose the last thing the locals want is to be kept awake all night from Drunken Brits, and lately drunken Swedes.

However there are a few old favourites, which I shall show here. I have only picked a few as they are near to each other, and are pretty good.

Cochrans Irish Pub

Cochrans Irish Pub, Nerja. Dont confuse this bar with the upstairs terrace within the complex.
Cochrans does loud, live music, Thursday through to Saturday nights. It is advertised as starting around 11PM. You are sometimes lucky if it has started by midnight. Ends around 2am. Great music, very crowded with local Spanish clientele, beer prices are not too bad. You will come out of here with your ears ringing, such is the noise. My favourite. Access is directly off of the main church, Balcon Square, as though walking towards the beach, beside the Marissol Hotel. There is a doorway to the right.

Fitzgeralds Nerja

Fitzgeralds bar, Nerja. Calle De Chaparil, Nerja.
Be aware that this bar is no longer in Calle Los Huertos.
Open until about 5am, music until the early hours. A great place. It is accessed down some steps, and the music bar is on the right. There is a quiet bar to the left. Normally there are 2 acts on at night. The first, early evening, is sometimes a quiet folk band bashing out all the Joan Baez 1970's hits you could ever ask for! Complete with the Jew Harp! Enough said about that. However around 9 or 10 the main acts begin, and it is great! Dancing, Guinness, Kilkenny, Spitfire, and local drinks. Dont be put off with decor reminiscent of the Winchester Club in The Minder TV series, and the 'looky looky man in the toilets 'giving' out perfume and aftershave. A great family night out.

Buskers Bar, Nerja

Buskers Bar, Nerja, located in Calle Antonio Millon, which is a pedestrian part, very close to Tuttie Fruitie Square. This is an Irish bar, with a late opening. Excellent place for a drink, again Guinness, as expected. Good prices. I have been in there a couple of times when the music was live, and it is traditional Irish music. Great family atmosphere, and great for a late drink.
